Journal of Economic Studies in Literature (JESL)  (Print ISSN: 3107-3492; Online ISSN: 3107-3506) is a peer-reviewed academic journal published by Hong Kong Information Education Publishing Company Limited. JESL publishes two issues each year in both Chinese and English. 


Scope and Topics 

Journal of Economic Studies in Literature is committed to advancing research on the economic dimensions of literature and to exploring the theoretical and methodological foundations of this field. It encompasses a wide and in-depth range of topics, including but not limited to: the construction of critical theories in literary economics; economic thoughts in literature; representations of the monetary economy; technological-economic writing in literature; economic ethics in literary discourse; literary representations of international trade; gendered economic narratives; war economy narratives; colonial economic narratives; maritime economic narratives; regional and national economic narratives; comparative studies of economic representations in Chinese and foreign literatures; the relationship between literary trends and transformations in political-economic systems; literature and the market; literature and publishing regimes; economic humanistic criticism; the economic value of literary resources; the literary and cultural industries; the reconstruction of literary value systems; the impact of the digital economy on literary production and dissemination; as well as pedagogical exploration and disciplinary development in related areas. The journal advocates an interdisciplinary research perspective and adheres to international academic standards. It does not establish fixed sections in advance and welcomes scholarly contributions addressing the above themes (without being limited to them). In order to reflect ongoing academic developments in a timely manner, the journal also accepts, on a rolling basis, interviews with leading scholars and academic book reviews in the field of economic studies in literature. The format and stylistic requirements for such submissions are the same as those for research articles.

JESL is a fully open access journal that provides immediate and permanent free access to all published content for all users worldwide without requiring any article processing charges (APCs) or subscription fees. All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license, allowing unrestricted sharing, distribution, and reuse with proper attribution. Authors retain copyright of their work while granting the journal publishing rights. We support responsible scholarly sharing by permitting authors to deposit preprints in any repository without embargo and postprints immediately upon publication. This sustainable model maintains the highest standards of peer review and editorial quality while eliminating financial barriers to knowledge dissemination.
